What to check before buying a used laptop
- Processor generation: a newer generation (for example 11th Gen or 12th Gen Intel Core) is usually faster and better supported than an older one, but costs more. An 8th Gen Core i5 is still enough for office work, browsing and video calls.
- RAM: 8GB suits basic office use. If you keep many browser tabs open or run several programs together, 16GB is more comfortable.
- Storage: an SSD makes start-up and file opening much quicker than an old hard drive. Check the listing for the exact SSD size, because a few units are sold without an SSD at a lower price.
- Screen and keyboard: check the screen size and whether it is Full HD, and whether the keyboard is backlit if you work in low light.
- Condition and warranty: every used laptop in this guide carries a 7 days checking warranty. Test the laptop within 7 days of purchase and report any fault to us. Please confirm the exact terms with the store before you buy.
Which one suits you?
- Everyday office work on a budget: the HP ProBook 650 G5 has a 15.6-inch screen and is listed at Rs. 59,800.
- More memory for multitasking: the Lenovo ThinkPad T14 with Core i7 and 16GB RAM is listed at Rs. 99,250.
- CAD, 3D or heavy software: the Dell Precision 5570 is a mobile workstation with an Intel Core i7-12800H, listed at Rs. 231,150. Note that it has 8GB RAM and a 1TB SSD, so ask us about the options if your software needs more memory.
